From strength to strength
Hersden Village Primary School is celebrating receiving a Good judgement overall from Ofsted.
The one-day inspection by the education watchdog on 6th March 2018 was welcomed by the Trust and has indicated that the school is well on its way to becoming outstanding.

Inspectors highlighted the strong leadership of the school, the report stated: “Working collaboratively with other leaders in the trust you have transformed the school environment and built a strong vision of what the very best teaching looks like. The vast majority of pupils enjoy coming to school and told me that they are pleased that the staff are, ‘always there for you and know you well’.”
The impact of quality teaching was also praised, “Your staff plan learning opportunities that completely meet the needs of the pupils they teach. As a result, current pupils, and especially those who are disadvantaged, make rapid progress.”

A new Trust-wide reading programme has led to rapid and sustained progress in both word reading and comprehension.
Inspectors also commended the achievements in writing “Progress and attainment in writing at key stage 2 are impressive. Pupils apply their writing skills confidently in a wide range of tasks across the curriculum.”
The school was shown to have demonstrated strong practice and marked improvement with the recommendation that the next inspection be a two-day, section 5 inspection.
Hersden Village Primary School is a small village school on the outskirts of Canterbury with an early years class with a maximum of 15 children. Limited spaces are available for September 2018 admissions with parents being encouraged to contact the school directly to secure a place.
