The Stour Academy Trust to hold consultation meetings on new school proposal
The Stour Academy Trust is to hold open meetings about its proposal to open the first primary school to be built on the Chilmington Green development, Ashford.
Becoming Ashford’s first Garden City, the development aims to deliver 5,750 high quality new homes over a period of 25 years.

The Trust is holding consultation evenings on Monday October 30th and Tuesday November 7th for parents and members of the wider community alike to share their views on the proposal.
The Stour Academy Trust, a leading Multi-Academy Trust based in Kent, is currently celebrating the recent Outstanding Ofsted judgment of Adisham CE Primary School in Canterbury, which became the second Outstanding school within the Trust’s Canterbury Hub. The school received an outstanding grade in all areas, praising the leadership’s clear and ambitious vision.
Simon O’Keefe, CEO of The Stour Academy Trust said “We are very honoured to have been selected to run Chilmington Green Primary School. Our collaborative model of schools working together for the benefit of all children has proved highly successful and we look forward to working with the community as the school grows and develops”
Having previous experience with opening a new school in Ashford, the Trust was selected as the sponsor of the new school after being identified and approved by Kent County Council and the Regional School’s Commissioner in July 2017. The Trust opened Finberry Primary School on a temporary site in Jemmett Road in September 2015 and recently moved into its state of the art new building on the Finberry Village development this September.
Area education officer at KCC, David Adams said “We are delighted that The Stour Academy Trust has been approved to sponsor the first primary school in Chilmington Green. We are absolutely confident in their ability to create a school for Chilmington Green which provides high quality education, and is a centre point for the newly forming community. We aim to open the school in September 2018, initially off-site in building on Jemmett Road, while we work to build the permanent school buildings.”
The formal consultation period starts on September 29 and closes at 4pm on Friday, November 10. The open evening meetings are being held at Finberry Primary School, Avocet Way, Finberry, Sevington, Ashford, TN25 7GS.
